More about Frye

The very first pair of Frye Boots was benchcrafted in 1863. What made them America’s best footwear back then still holds true as Frye quality is timeless. For almost 150 years, our leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers with genuine leather and premium rubber soles. With our steadfast commitment and painstaking attention to detail, it takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots.

‘Detail’ isn’t just a word that describes that which cannot be overlooked. It also signifies all the touches, accents, and signs of craftsmanship that give a fine good value. The boot makers at Frye understand that it’s the attention to details that give their series of Harness boots a distinct, irreproducible look and that, in turn, make them a classic, enduring American design.

Completed only after a manufacturing process that includes 190 steps, Frye boots have been a symbol of American boot making skill since the company first opened for business in 1863. This dedication to quality is expressed through a bench crafting process that turns the finest full grain leather into boots that, when styled with O-ring accents and metal studs, result in boots that are as recognizable as any in the world.

The inherent attractiveness of Frye boots, however, is not the only thing that gives them a value that does not decrease over time. Because they make use of oil resistant Neoprene soles that are mounted to a Goodyear welt construction, their footwear is good for hitting back roads or the urban jungle for decades to come.
