First Look for Fall: Thierry Rabotin’s Tulip and Tempio

Jun 14th 2019

The runways have spoken, and the '90s are back again for Fall 2019. Designers have remixed the distinctive styling and attributes of the decade with eccentric, avant-garde codes for a fresh interpretation. For Thierry Rabotin, his new collection is a blend of Italian flair and minimalism with an emphasis on color. Exclusively at Hanig’s Footwear this season, we’re bringing you two exclusive silhouettes that embody the retro inspiration found on the catwalks.

For $495, the Tulip is a quirky walking shoe arriving in four classic and modern colorways and luxe materials, including metallic grey with bronze detailing, a triple black nappa, red taffetas, and two-tone blue suede. This silhouette is designed with a one-piece leather upper, a traditional lace closure, and a scalloped collar with comfortable padding. Cushioned footbeds with arch support and leather-lined interiors are featured in all for all-day comfort. The flexible, single-piece rubber sole features a wedge heel, low-profile platform, and shock-absorbent properties to protect the underfoot from impact. Its light tread pattern enhances traction and stability to prevent slipping. Tempio is priced at $470 and comes in three looks. Rendered in supple suede, this style comes in a rich brown, timeless black, and bold red. Each features a notched tongue, an easy slip-on style, and a striped elastic band across the instep that keeps the foot locked in. Expanding into a slight wedge, the lightweight rubber sole flexes with the foot and absorbs shock on impact for a more comfortable step.

The top trends for the fall focused on transforming menswear of a bygone era for women’s bodies, and Thierry Rabotin’s flats complement them well. Statement outerwear will be a key garment to build your look around. Lace up the Tulip in bronze and grey and team it with a turtleneck cashmere sweater and straight-legged jeans in a medium wash. Throw a wool cape over your shoulders for classic drama. Double-breasted trench coats are a wardrobe mainstay. For a dinner date, layer it over a chic sheath dress, then pair it all it with gold-tone jewelry and the brown suede Tempio to round out the sophisticated aesthetic. Cinched suiting is the new office apropos. Designers reached back in time and took style cues from the power women who dominated the ‘90s. Nip the waist on your go-to blazer with a skinny leather belt or tiered chain. Opaque tights, an A-line skirt, and either the Tulip or Tempio in your favorite color offers a girlish counterbalance to the the masculine element.
