How to Dress Like a French Woman — Comfort is Key

Sep 20th 2019

As the birthplace of fashion, France is lauded for its artisanal manufacturing processes and forward-thinking design intent.

Hirica Sidonie Marine

Hirica was founded in Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse of Southern France in 1904. With more than a century of expertise and tradition behind it, the brand has captured icon status and is regarded as a leader within the French shoemaking industry. Hirica’s women’s shoes match comfort and style as each new model is created with an uncompromising quality and finely considered details. Set against naturally-derived and engineered materials, they choose trendy elements and add them to classic silhouettes.

Hirica Sacha BootFor Fall/Winter 2019, Hirica finds aesthetic inspiration in the outdoors. The season’s lineup includes the Dayton, Rennes, and Sidonie. The Dayton boot is optioned in classic black, bright Ocre, Marine, and Kaki. All four share a mid-cut suede upper with a slightly slouchy shaft and a hidden zip closure. Its molded rubber sole features a low wedge heel and a grooved tread pattern for stability. Rennes comes in black and Marine suede. It sports an asymmetrical gore collar and a rear pull tab to provide an easy on and off wearing style. The sleek bootie is complemented by a wedged rubber sole, too, for support. Expanding on the classic SachaSidonie assumes a hiking aesthetic in nubuck combined with a quilted textile tongue to improve insulation in low temperatures. Elastic laces stretch to allow quick entry. The boot utilizes insole cushioning and a wedged rubber sole with flex grooves.

Like Hirica, Arche has remixed French style by pushing the boundaries of contemporary fashion with respect for heritage. The brand is hinged on a youthful vibrancy, sport inspiration, and artful touches as outlined by founder Pierre Robert Helaine. Possessing an affinity for color, he was committed to bringing together the country’s legacy and a sense of individuality to redefine the meaning of authenticity. With each passing season, each collection realizes his vision of modernity, simplicity, and comfort.

Arche Tatebo Minuy

Arche reinvents the boot, bootie, and flat for Fall 2019. The brand challenges its minimalist design principles through experimentation with tactility. Technical fabrics mingle with suede and leather on fresh styles including the Tatebo and Patcha. Arriving in Minuy Blue and black, Tatebo boasts a nubuck upper with a stepped top line, an asymmetrical band across the vamp, and a sculpted block heel. Natural latex for the sole lends a surefooted step. Patcha’s nubuck profile is graced with an offset, silver-tone zipper, wedge heel, and a supportive platform with an exaggerated sawtooth tread. Finally, the Onyzan flat presents a play on texture in black dual-type leather and nubuck for depth and contrast. The shoe is mounted on a latex wedge and outsole with a strategically placed crosshatch tread pattern.
